Deadman Wonderland really shows the Arkham Asylum side of the anime world. And by this I mean it shows just how dark the creators of this anime can be. Ganta framed of murdering every single one of his classmates in a horrifically violent, and exacerbated manner. He's found guilty and sentenced to life in a Japan's only privatized jail, Deadman Wonderland. To survive the inmates of this jail are required to eat a substance keep the levels in their blood at a certain reading or their collars will kill them. If that wasn't morbid enough the inmates are required to join in on public executions in the form of theme park attractions.
This anime has stunningly great animation along with a really unique and adequate storyline. The main character is likeable and this anime does not lack any action whatsoever. Everything from supernatural action to sword's slashing, to Mortal Kombat style pitfalls teaming with jagged skewers.
This will be a serious contender with a lot of the other big name anime this year and I have no doubt it'll take a top spot. I believe i speak for everyone when I say this is the dark, psychological anime I've been craving from the new season lineup.
